Roberta specializes in working with women and men who have experienced partner relational trauma due to their partner’s problematic sexual behavior (sexual addiction). She is part of a limited and uniquely qualified group of therapists who are highly trained in the APSATS Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model. As an APSATS (The Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) trained specialist, Roberta provides safety and stabilization, along with care, support and relational healing for those impacted by sexual addiction, relational betrayal and relational trauma.
Sadly, when a person seeks help due to partner sexual betrayal trauma, untrained therapists focus on helping the addict or person with the problematic sexual behavior rather than the partner, which leaves the partner feeling alone and possibly at fault. Roberta focuses on empowering the partner who has been so deeply wounded and hurt. Roberta can help partners regain their sense of balance and live empowered, loving lives.
When a person experiences betrayal trauma, life becomes unbalanced; dreams are ruined; hope and trust are gone and the person you thought you knew and loved seems like a stranger in your life and home. Roberta can help you to recover from the shock and make sense of your world again by helping you learn how to effectively cope with feelings such as anger, hurt, fear and shame, preparing you for personal and relational restoration.
Roberta has also completed training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (level 1) and incorporates these highly tested and researched, proven principles, when working with marital couples. With this approach, couples will learn:
- How to manage conflict
- Increase effective communications
- Increase intimacy
- Restore respect and affection
- Identify barriers that have created a sense of lost love
